Rival de Loop Young "Golden Glow" limited edition - Lilac Glow, Orange Sunset, Sunkissed Red

Hey guys!

Today I have a Rival de Loop Young LE to share with you. There was one more polish, a yellow, but it didn't impress me so I left it on the shelf. Anyway, let's look at the three that I got!

Lilac Glow
Two coats with top coat here. I feel like this is the lighter sister of OPI's "Dutch 'Ya Just Love OPI?". The shimmer in this is much more obvious, but also only one color. I really like it!

Orange Sunset
Another one with two coats and top coat; it's a bit less opaque than "Lilac Glow", but still quite pigmented. Now this reminds me of "Tangerine Twist" by P2 from last year's summer collection. If you want a comparison let me know.

Sunkissed Red
I love this one and I'm considering buying a backup. Again, a bit less opaque than "Lilac Glow", but still perfectly fine for me at two coats (again, plus top coat).

essence "Road Trip" limited edition

Hey guys!

I just picked these things up and thought I'd share them as quickly as I can! I have so many swatches of limited edition things sitting around in my blog folder and the older they get the less likely I am to actually post them, so I want to get this one out as quickly as possible. Get my head back in the game or something. Anyway, here we go!

Hit The Road, Red!
This is two coats without any top coat. This is meant to be a "leather effect" finish, but I have to say the gritty bits don't really come through or are big enough in my opinion. I do like the color, though.

On The Road Again
Another textured one, also two coats without top coat. Again, the gritty bits don't come through that well so the texture isn't too bumpy, but it's still more of a "classic" textured finish than "Hit The Road, Red!". I bought a backup of this because I thought it looked so pretty with its gold and silver sparkly bits... After applying it, I gotta admit I'm not thrilled. But maybe I'll like it better with top coat.

I Don't Care! I Love It!
I wonder if they gave the polish this name because they knew that it was so sheer... This is three coats with top coat. When I applied the first coat I was pretty shocked at how sheer the color went on. Thankfully it can be built up well and three coats give fairly good coverage. The color shift is very nice, but there are a million polishes like this already.

My Sweet Escape
The thermo polish of the collection. Now, when I swatched this it was already pretty late and it was really hard to capture the thermo effect at all. You can see it best, I think, on my ring finger nail in the second picture. The difference between cold and hot isn't super noticeable, though, so... yeah. Not impressed, I gotta say. Two coats with top coat here.

I also got the two mini sheer lipsticks included in this LE. Since I got my new camera beginning of the year I can't take photos of my lips/face anymore - you need to look through a viewfinder to be able to take the picture and obviously if my face is on the other side I can't see anything. So I don't know how to do this (yet?). Any help is appreciated :P Anyway, I did swatch these on my hand, so here goes.

Top: Hit The Road, Red!; bottom: My Sweet Escape

Left: My Sweet Escape; Right: Hit The Road, Red!

The coverage doesn't seem amazing but they look pretty good on the lips. "My Sweet Escape" comes off more pinky on my lips rather than peachy, while "Hit The Road, Red!" comes off as a berry-ish tone. You will see dryness and lip lines accentuated from up-close. The latter isn't as noticeable if you're a little further away but the former is still visible at about arm's length.

China Glaze - Riveting (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Remember the last time orange was up for our weekly series? Because I do. And if you do, too, you probably started grinning when you saw the title of this post...

This is three coats with top coat. It still isn't 100% opaque, but it works. The imprint on my middle finger nail is due to me typing with still-wet nails and then trying to patch it up again with my fingers. Oh well...

essie "Too Taboo" collection

Hey guys!

Today I bring you one of essie's summer collections. I believe it's marketed as a neon collection, though I've heard people say that they wouldn't classify these polishes as neons, and I have to agree. However, they're still pretty, so let's get a look at them!

chills & thrills
This is a nice, bright blue, shown here with two coats and top coat. It has good opacity. All of these dry sort of semi-matt, so if you want shine you need to add top coat.

i'm addicted
Again, two coats with top coat. I really like this color! It's not quite as strong in pigmentation as "chills & thrills", but it's still nicely opaque.

serial shopper
This one is a little more sheer, as you might be able to see - you can still make out my nail line at two coats (again, with top coat). Surprisingly, I like this color quite a bit. It seems this is soft enough of an orange to not make me go "meh".

sittin' pretty
Again, this one is more on the sheer side. Two coats with top coat here as well. I like it, but the color in the bottle is different from what you get on the nail.

too taboo
The namesake of the collection and the one polish I initially didn't want to buy. But as so often, at some point I just thought "oh well, eff it" and got it anyway. I'm quite glad I did, it's prettier than I thought. This has good opacity, much like "chills & thrills", and covers perfectly in two coats. Top coat adds the shine.

vices versa
This one is quite the same in pigmentation as "serial shopper" - you can see my nail line again here. Two coats with top coat.

To summarize: These are bright colors, but I wouldn't say they're neon. Still fun, though!

Catrice "Le Grand Bleu" Limited Edition

Hey guys!

I'm not sure what Catrice's idea behind the name of this collection was. There's a big ship and a movie under the same name, but these nail polishes seem to be clearly inspired by the sea. Let's just assume "le grand bleu" ("the great blue") refers to the ocean. Anyway, here we go with the swatches.

Underwater Laugh
I nicknamed this one "grrrggl". Surprisingly opaque, you could get away with one thicker coat. Shown here are two thinner ones, with top coat. This borders on metallic, I think.

Mermaiday Mayday
The - probably - most coveted one of the collection, this nail polish will never reach full opacity on its own. I applied two coats and top coat and loved how it looked like water glittering in the sun. The glitter settles to the bottom of the bottle after a while, so make sure you put it upside down for a bit and roll it around a little before using it.

Bella Aquarella
Again, a sheer polish. I believe I used three coats (with top coat) here, just to see if it would get more opaque. It didn't really, and I'm not too much of a fan. Bummer, really, because the color's pretty. Of course you can always layer it on top of a creme polish.

Entering Atlantis
Two coats here, with top coat. This somehow didn't meet my expectations - I feel like it looked different in the bottle and on the nail.

Mermaid It
Another surprisingly opaque polish, you can definitely get away with one slightly thicker coat. I used two plus top coat here because I'm still a bit clumsy with my nail polish application sometimes. Gold isn't my favorite nail polish color, but this one has a bit of a rose gold/bronze/burned hue to it, so I quite like it.

essence - if i were a boy (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

Today I'm showing you my pick for a pigeon blue or powder blue color. I was a little hard-pressed to find something in my collection, not least because I'd seen some other posts already and didn't want to use the same color if I could avoid it. So here's what I chose!

Two coats with top coat here. It's a light blue, but for me, it has enough of a gray tone to it that I would still consider it within the right range. Fun fact: I actually picked this up quite recently when I was browsing my local Müller store.

Sally Hansen "Pastels on Pointe" - Tutu Pretty, Take The Leap, Tulle Kit

Hey guys!

I gotta say I completely missed the announcement of this LE, if there even was one - I wouldn't know! Anyway, when I saw it in the store I just had to pick up these three shimmering beauties. Let's look at them together, shall we?

Tutu Pretty

Take The Leap

Tulle Kit

These are all one coat over black, second photo always taken in direct sunlight. I'm sorry that some pictures are blurry, but it really helps to see the full spectrum of colors in these.

essie "Hide & Go Chic" collection

Hey guys!

Before a ton of other essie collections hit the shelves I wanna get this in, just in case you haven't seen these polishes five hundred times already... Let me say that I swatched these quite a while ago, so I'm not 100% sure about the details anymore. I wanna say all of these are two coats with top coat.

hide & go chic

romper room

fashion playground

spin the bottle

style hunter

truth or flare

Overall, I'm a little "meh" about this collection. Nice colors, but nothing outstanding. Anyway, apparently the colors are still good enough for me to compulsorily buy all of them.

China Glaze - There's Snow One Like You (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

This week we're looking at all sorts of white polishes, and I have a special one to show here. So let's see it!

This is two coats, without top coat (obviously). I know a lot of people loathe this polish because it's difficult to work with and it's very uneven, even for a textured polish... but I love it. The name... It's just perfect for me.

essie - Mojito Madness (Lacke in Farbe ...und bunt!)

Hey guys!

I'm so late for this, but who cares. Right? Right. Anyway, for last Wednesday, Lena and Cyw called for middle green. So let's see what I took so long to get on my nails and photograph!

Two coats with top coat here. You might remember this from another post, but I never showed it on its own, so I justified picking this that way. Ahem.
